Established in the summer of 2001, the company is now a market leader in consulting, designing and managing of investment opportunities in the secondary market for life insurance policies - especially in the United States, Germany and Japan. Our aim is to provide private and institutional investors with investments in identified growth markets and products and to offer tailor-made solutions for consumers with liquidity bottlenecks.
In 2002, Life Bond opened the market for so-called "US life settlement funds" in Germany. For the first time, private and institutional investors had the opportunity to invest in existing US life insurance policies - an asset with almost no correlation to stock markets.Altogether, five closed-end funds (two private placements and three retail closed-end funds in cooperation with BVT) were placed. With a team of 15 experts and external advisors, Life Bond currently manages portfolios of US life insurance policies with total maturity proceeds of about USD 800m (face value).By creating the Life Bond Lebensversicherungshandelsgesellschaft mbH (Life Bond LV) the Life Bond Group also opened the secondary market for German life insurance in 2005. Instead of canceling their policy and normally receiving a smaller surrender value from the insurance company, consumers can sell their endowment or pension policies to Life Bond and gain a financial added value of up to 10 percent in some cases.
Another way of extending their financial leeway is the Life Credit policy loan, which allows customers to borrow against a policy instead of canceling it! This product from Life Bond`s experts gives you a true alternative to the traditional consumer and bank loans.
Life Bond partly owes its success in initiating, designing and managing alternative and innovative investment products to our cooperation with and consultation of experts in the fields of taxation and law.
For actuarial questions, Life Bond has been supported for a number of years by the expertise of internationally renowned specialists from the Ulmer Institut für Finanz- und Aktuarwissenschaften (Institute for Financial and Actuarial Science, Ulm).
